Haha, old pictures

by nebulafire on April 2, 2013 at 4:03 am

So, I came across these today, digging through my old sketchbook …

This is, you guessed it, the FIRST drawing of Lance Erroway (not Amelia, that’s like the 600th or something). Look at his squatty face! Looks like I decided to make his eyebrows white in the comic. I may go back and change that, I kind of like them dark like that. And … that lizard is a spore creature I made probably.

And this:

This, you guessed it again, is the first drawing of the ornithopter! My lovely friend Libby (who so lovingly comments on every single page I upload as well as deviation on deviant  art) was sitting next to me on the bus where Boys with Wings was born. So, she was sitting next to me when this drawing was done! The flying ship has changed some …

No way, you’ve guessed it again, The server issue IS SOLVED. You so smart! Oh, no, you’re wrong there: the pages are still not updating because the buffer still needs expanding. Shoot, combo breaker!

SOOO. A wee explanation.

by nebulafire on March 21, 2013 at 9:31 am

Turns out … the reason nobody can see the images is because there is an issue with the server!

More importantly, the reason nobody has seen any new PAGES is because, truthfully and embarrassingly enough, I need more time to catch up on my buffer. Lately, the pages have been updating too quickly for me too keep up, and things have sped up business wise, so I don’t have the time to spit out a new page every week. My buffer of 10 pages has shrunken to 5, and I feel like it’ll only shrink more if pages continue updating at the pace they have been.

I understand this must be frustrating for you guys, especially because the header says “UPDATE EVERY FRIDAY” in enormous shiny letters. But the header image also cannot be updated, as a result of this server issue. I’ll let you know AS SOON as we figure it out.

As far as the pages go … I still want to give myself more of a headstart, so it may be a little bit yet.

Thanks guys for the patience, truly. I love that you keep coming back to read my story, written by my own naive ambition to fly. Truly, your loyalty is appreciated, and I’m not giving up just yet!

Enjoy spring, hopefully it’s a little more “springy” wherever you are.

Keep flying,

–B.C.P.

Chapter 2!

by nebulafire on January 31, 2013 at 5:32 am

EVERYBODY NOW.

Chapter 2 will not begin until FEBRUARY 15TH. There are some more things I need to work on before I can begin posting again, as I need to build my buffer back up to where it was. Also, it was about a year ago then that I started posting chapter 1.

I understand it’s frustrating that I’ve been updating sporadically the past few months. Believe me, I’m trying my hardest to get work done on the story. I’ll take the “updates every Friday” memo down as soon as I can (still problems with the website), since I haven’t been loyal to that recently. Until I am confident that will happen again, I’ll put it back up.

Thank you kindly everyone. Your patience has meant the world to me. I know I’m not very well known, but it doesn’t matter to me how many readers I have. What matters is that there’s at LEAST 10 of you guys out there, and you’re willing to wait.

In the mean time, stay warm, stay happy, and keep drawing forevveeeerrrrrrr!

I Haven’t Given Up!

by nebulafire on January 24, 2013 at 9:45 am

Readers!

I understand the website was down for a little while, but the story isn’t going anywhere. The last page to Lufeus’ origin story will update this Friday, followed by Chapter 2.

Your patience is AWESOME, and super appreciated.

WELL, It’s been a while.

by nebulafire on January 15, 2013 at 9:54 am

Heyo, fellow scientists!

I hope this really long break hasn’t been incentive for all of you to stop reading, but you can come back now! I’m back!

Turns out I needed this break. I feel recharged and ready to go yet again. Once the computer starts cooperating, I’ll show you what I just made.

Thanks a MILLION for the patience! The story will continue shortly!

Onward and upward,

Ze Winter Break

by nebulafire on December 22, 2012 at 9:20 pm

Well the bad news is … I left my “India Red” paint back at school, so I’m unable to make new pages of the Origin Story until I go back to school.

The good news is … I’m going to draw like crazy so you’ll see some other art! So I’ll try to make it up to you somehow.

Happy holidays everyone!

Finals Week

by nebulafire on December 8, 2012 at 2:46 am

Everyone!

These last few weeks here have been crunch time, so I haven’t had the time to work on the comic. As a result, there will be no new page today ( :( )  I’ll certainly let you know when the next page will come up.

After this origin story is over, there will be a few weeks off until the second chapter comes up.

Thank you all for your patience, peace out!

IlluxCon

by nebulafire on November 12, 2012 at 7:41 pm

Fellow Scientists!

I apologize for the confusion with the upload this past Friday. There was NOT supposed to be a new page due to IlluxCon, but for some reason the website decided it was better to upload a blank page than no page at all. Things will proceed as usual this coming Friday.

Thank you for your patience!

NY Comic Con!?

by nebulafire on September 26, 2012 at 10:12 am

By some miracle, I’m going to be at a booth at NY Comic Con! So if you’re in the New York area, please feel free to stop by! I’m going to be there all day, the whoooole time. So I promise any visitors will make me very happy.

But even though the convention isn’t for a few weeks still, I basically already know how it’s going to go …

Thanks

by nebulafire on July 20, 2012 at 11:23 pm

Since I haven’t said this yet …

I want to thank those of you who have been loyal enough to return to read every week. I know this is going along slowly for you guys, and your patience means the world to me. I wanted to start the story early to give myself a head start, so in a year or two we’ll find it making good headway.

Thanks again to those of you who’ve been so patient and understanding. I’ve got a ways to go, but it’s awesome people like you that contribute to the fuel that keeps me going.

Thank you :)

Check et out! Dragon Clay Project

by nebulafire on July 19, 2012 at 3:30 am

Here’s a little something I’ve been wanting to make for a long time. I want you (as well as myself) to be able to understand the anatomy of my dragons as best as possible, and the greatest way for that I believe, is sculpture.

The wire framework.

The aluminum muscles! Woo!

Clay body, first part.

Close up of FACE.

An update …

by nebulafire on May 2, 2012 at 9:27 am

Readers!

I hope that the one update every two weeks isn’t too slow for you. unfortunately, school has been overbearing this semester which has significantly slowed my time for the story. Be honest with me. Do you feel you are being deprived, or do you not mind waiting?

My goal for this coming summer is to try to get more things going — more updates, if not more frequent new pages.

Let me know … if you want to go more into detail, please don’t hesitate to send me an email! EVER!

Hope to be sharing more with you soon …

Flight Lesson

by nebulafire on September 9, 2011 at 3:37 pm

Over the summer I received the greatest birthday gift ever.

I got to have not one, but two flight lessons. In which, I was to sit in the pilot’s chair and actually maneuver the plane.

Holy crap! What!?

Well actually no.

More like this.

Surprisingly, I found flying to be easier than preconceived. We did three “touch and gos,” which are exactly what they sound like. Land the plane then take off right after. Since the craft was so small, it would get off of the ground very quickly (Crazy, crazy stuff!).

Fact: this picture was taken at 700 mph.

Despite the fact it was my first time piloting an airplane, she let me do many things. She controlled the first take off and got us stable in the air. Once we reached 3,000 feet, she let me take the stick.

This was right before it broke off of the control pad.

Certainly after the experience, my perspective of flight had totally changed. I not only have observed a pilot in flight, but have experienced a little of it myself.

And it was really,

Really,

Some pictures.

by nebulafire on July 15, 2011 at 3:31 am

So I have a looooooot of artwork for this comic that I’ve made over the past year, so I figured I could share some of it here!

Here’s some concept art of what the city of Ables looks like — the city where Amelia lives. Much like a New York City or Boston … bustling, where things move efficiently and everyone has somewhere to be going. As you can see, I have a whopping amount of patience with completing a composition of this magnitude (that was sarcasm- I know it’s hard to read that stuff over the internet).

Here’s a cross section of the airship. To be perfectly honest with you, I’m no engineer. I struggle SO MUCH with the logic of this flying vessel, but I ensure you it is a work in progress, and I aim to make it at least a little bit scientifically plausible.

And this would be the protagonists’ bedroom … feeling lonely?

How about now?
